Severe weather event on Christmas Eve

Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park was impacted by a severe weather event on Christmas Eve, 24th December 2023, that delivered heavy rain and flash flooding. As a result of this, unfortunately, some of the general mini vaults along Frost Avenue, and our gardens throughout the park have been damaged. Our team have worked to ensure all vaults have been temporarily secured and are in the process of undertaking assessments to determine damage that will require further repair work to be conducted. We will be in contact with impacted families accordingly to work through this repair process. Our grounds team are also working across our park to clean up the widespread damage done to our gardens.

We thank you for your understanding and patience, and welcome any further enquires by
    phone 9661 5655 or email esmp.info@mmplm.com.au.

  • Pioneer Caretakers Site development

Our Built Environment team, in collaboration with the Lighthouse Project Group, has partnered with civil construction contractors to commence work on the Pioneer Caretakers site at Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park.

This project entails the development of new Monumental and General Lawns,  which will encompass the development of 705 double-depth interment plots, the installation of a new subterranean stormwater drainage system, the establishment of a dedicated Hearse parking bay, and the addition of water facilities.

Work will run from October 2023 to approximately March 2024.

    General One construction works

As of February 14th, construction has commenced on a new Full Monumental Burial area between Chapel Avenue and the florist at Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park. Fencing will be in place during the construction period, with as little disruption as possible to surrounding areas.

  • Conflict in the Middle East

Due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas and the resulting impact on our community, we have developed an incident response plan to mitigate any threats that may arise across our memorial parks.

While we do not anticipate any immediate threats, we understand the ongoing conflict is upsetting for all parties involved, and our utmost priority is to ensure the safety of our stakeholders, visitors and employees.

We have been informed that the NSW Police Force have established a centralised command centre to assess potential threats and engage with relevant stakeholders.  While the police do not possess any intelligence indicating likely threats, it is evident they are taking proactive measures to consider potential scenarios.

During this time, we ask that our stakeholders remain vigilant regarding any threat that is identified within our memorial parks.  There is significant representation of both Jewish and Muslim community at some of our memorial parks.

If you identify any threats while visiting one of our parks, please report this to a member of staff who will escalate to management.

Planning a funeral

Funerals are a time to gather, remember and celebrate a person’s life and loves, an important part of the grieving process. These special ceremonies can be elaborate, simple and as personalised as you choose.

How to plan a funeral

Not sure where to start? To make it easy, here are three steps to follow to help you plan the funeral and create a fitting tribute.

Memorialisation

Today, many people choose to scatter the ashes of their loved one in a place that may have had great meaning for them. For others, somewhere beautiful that touches the heart is part of the ritual of saying goodbye.

Coping with loss

Everyone grieves in different ways and at different times. It’s important to talk with your family and a grief counsellor can also help you through a difficult and traumatic time. Visit our ‘Coping with loss’ page for more information and links to support and mental health groups.
